Hi, I'm Paul Scully, your local Member in NSW State Parliament.
I'm the third generation of my family to call Wollongong home.
I went to Mount Kembla Public School and Figtree High School before graduating from the University of Wollongong.
I've worked in a range of jobs, some of which involved commuting to and from Sydney every day, so I know how hard that can be and the need for quality public transport in NSW, especially in regional centres such as Wollongong.
Most recently, I worked as the Chief Operating Officer of the Australian Institute for Innovative Materials at the UOW Innovation Campus. Through this work, I understand how important it is to be investing in and protecting our local jobs. Not just the ones that are there now, but also creating opportunities for future jobs - this is something I plan to work hard on.
I will fight against the Liberal Government's cuts to hospitals and TAFE because I understand just how crucial quality healthcare and education are for you and your children.
I am passionate about getting lifts built at Unanderra Station, because we must be able to ensure equal access for all people to public transport.
I will fight to protect our local steel and manufacturing industry at Port Kembla Steelworks, as well as work tirelessly to help grow investment in local jobs.
I am prepared to work hard to help fix our local schools' overcrowding and maintenance backlogs.
I will continue to fight cuts to TAFE and plans to privatise local hospitals.
I will keep pushing for a thoracic surgeon at Wollongong Hospital, and better funding to reduce enormous waiting times for elective surgery.
As your local member, I will stand up in Parliament for the interests of Wollongong, and fight to make sure that we are not ignored.
