I’m committed to supporting and growing local jobs, helping to strengthen and grow our local economy through smart investments in important infrastructure.

The region is fortunate to have a skilled, multilingual workforce, a world-class university, deep water port, and supportive business environment all located within an hour of Australia’s global city, Sydney.

We also sit at the edge of the regional growth centres of south-west and western Sydney – home to the third largest economy in the country and more than a million people.

The Minns Government is investing in the future of jobs in the Illawarra by:

  • Overseeing the rezoning of 200 hectares of industrial land at Port Kembla so that it can host jobs and new industries
  • Investing in the transport infrastructure needed to keep the Illawarra moving
  • Supporting workforce development with a record investment in TAFE and the skills sector, including establishing the Illawarra Heavy Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at TAFE
  • Supporting government purchasing rules so that small and medium businesses get a greater change of providing goods and services to government
  • Supporting the growth of the night time economy by supporting live music, venues and making outdoor dining permanent

As we look to the future we need to build on our past successes and look to new opportunities to invest in Wollongong’s future to help create more jobs near to where people live.
