Funding to deliver local road safety projects

19 March 2026

The Albanese and Minns Governments are continuing to improve road safety on regional and remote roads in NSW, delivering funding towards upgrades for the Wollongong and Keira state electorates.

The Albanese and Minns Governments are partnering to deliver three local projects with a joint 50/50 investments of $374,000 through the Road Safety Program. This is part of a more than $19.7 million to deliver 33 newly-announced life-saving projects across regional NSW.

These projects include:

  • $103,000 for the installation of a footpath and bus stop adjacent to Lake Heights Public School on Northcliffe Drive, Lake Heights.
  • $208,000 for the installation of speed cushions and pedestrian refuges adjacent to Corrimal East Public School on Murray Road and Station Street, East Corrimal.
  • $63,000 for the installation of speed cushions and lighting at a pedestrian crossing adjacent to Bellambi Public School on Cawley Street, Bellambi.

The Road Safety Program plays a vital role in implementing treatments designed to reduce deaths and serious injuries on NSW roads, with particular emphasis on helping protect vulnerable pedestrians and motorists.

Since its launch in early 2024, the Road Safety Program has allocated $125 million to councils across NSW, supporting projects to improve road safety for all communities.
