Serving up plenty of sporting fan-fun for Sydneysiders with an Australian Open live-site at Darling Harbour

15 January 2026

Sydney sport lovers and tennis fans are invited to gather for free fan action this summer at the Darling Harbour 2026 Australian Open live site, as the Minns Labor Government keeps the city vibrant for all ages.

Sydneysiders can feel the thrill of every ace and the drama of every match as they watch the Australian Open (AO26) live and completely free on the big screen at Tumbalong Park from Sunday 18 January until the final on Sunday 1 February.

AO26 by the Harbour – Live with Channel 9 means families, friends and fans can experience the electric atmosphere when the nation rallies behind Aussie champions as they compete in the much-loved tennis tournament.

Visitors can grab a bite to eat from near-by Darling Harbour cafes and restaurants, enjoy the summer sun, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere with friends and family while relaxing on the grass in front of the big screen. This is a free event, and no registration is required.

The Minns Labor Government is focussed on bringing more fun and exciting events to NSW with free fun activities for the whole family. Recent changes have seen event caps lifted and red tape around entertainment, dining and events slashed.

The long-term transformation of Darling Harbour continues with visitation reaching 26.4 million during the year. New additions include the new sound shell at Tumbalong Park, a new public space in the Chinese Garden of Friendship and a playground for older children which continues to uplift Darling Harbour and offer locals and tourists another reason to visit the precinct.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said:

“It’s great to be serving up some fantastic fan-fun for Sydneysiders and visitors to get in on the Australian Open excitement here in our great city.

“Following the success of last year’s live site at Darling Harbour we’re proud to be teaming up with Channel 9 and Tennis Australia so that Sydneysiders can join the party atmosphere during the Australian Open.

“This is another example of the Minns Labor Government supporting Sydney’s visitor economy with events that drive visitation, jobs and boost business.”
