UNANDERRA STATION LIFTS – TIME TO GET A MOVE ON

Member for Wollongong, Paul Scully, says it's been 50 days since the beginning of the year and that is more than enough time for the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government to fire the starting gun on the upgrade of Unanderra Station, including building its much-needed lifts.

Member for Wollongong, Paul Scully, says it’s been 50 days since the beginning of the year and that is more than enough time for the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government to fire the starting gun on the upgrade of Unanderra Station, including building its much-needed lifts.

The Government said that “Community feedback will be sought during the public display of the Review of Environmental Factors in early 2020.”

“Transport for NSW have had more than enough time to prepare the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) report so we can get cracking on the community consultation process and then move onto all the other stages to start building the Unanderra Station lifts.

“I’m sick and tired of the foot dragging on this project by the Government.

“The Government made a solemn pledge to fund this project at the 2019 March election and I expect the Minister to keep to his word that Unanderra Station will be upgraded and its much-needed lifts will be built”, Mr Scully said.

The Government has indicated that once the consultation process is completed, it will take between 12 and 18 months to upgrade Unanderra Station.

“Transport for NSW needs to release the REF report so the next stages of the project including planning approval, detailed design, awarding of the building contract, and construction can commence.

“The Unanderra community and surrounding suburbs have already been waiting long enough for this project to get started.

“It’s time Transport for NSW and the Government got a move on”, he said.
